I went to the Raleigh Civic

I went to the Raleigh Civic Center show back in 1985. It was my first concert. They had general admission seating and you could sit or stand anywhere. I will never forget the opening of R.E.M.'s set: it was pitch black and all the sudden you hear the opening notes of "Feeling Gravity's Pull" ringing out. My jaw dropped open and stayed that way for several minutes until my brother asked if I was okay. I was 17 and didn't really know their music and was absolutely in awe of what I saw and heard that night. From that moment on, they became my favorite band EVER. Did Michael have on a Laura Ashley dress at some point? Classic. Although I wish I could've been in Raleigh last night, I wouldn't trade that for the 85 Civic Center show.

I was at this show in 85.

I was at this show in 85. The Minutemen were AMAZING. One of the best shows I've ever seen. After they played it got dark and you heard a train roaring through and then... "Feeling Gravity's Pull". I was at Elon College at the time and we treked over to see the show. Well worth it! I will always remember this show. D. Boone was dead not long after. What a shame, the Minutemen were, are, an amazing band.
